SafeLeagues Redraft League Rules

See Article V for One Timer and SafeLeagues/Throwback 500 specific rules.

Article I: League Host

  1. SafeLeagues/Throwback uses a third party host (MyFantasyLeague or Sleeper) as our game play provider. The league will be run on that site.
  2. Team managers will receive a link and login information to their league after making payment for their league.
  3. We are at the mercy of the league host for their players and designations. This includes but is not limited to available players, positions, injury or suspended designations, etc.
  4. We will not manually change and designation or add players to the player pool. That is designated and done by the league host.

Article II: Important Information

1. Format

  • Each redraft league plays only one season and is completed at the end of that season.

3. Winnings Allocation

  • Any and all league winnings will be allocated into a team managers Leaguesafe Account.
  • This will be done after the contest has concluded. The contest concludes after Thursday morning stat corrections following the championship week of the fantasy season.
  • Any person who has winnings over $599 will be required to fill out a w9 (US) or a w8-BEN (Canada). If you fail to turn in a W9 when required to do to having winnings over $599 net for the prior year, you will have your teams locked and you may not be allowed to retain your teams for the following year and any payments for that year or any future years will not be refunded. Those teams will be orphaned. Winnings can not be released without that form on file.

4. Dynasty League Deposits

  • Redraft leagues do not have a deposit upon league entry.

5. SHGN Regulatory Fee

  • There is a $6.95 regulatory fee to help pay for the regulation and licensing fees that now exist in many states. SafeLeagues/Throwback pays for licensing and registration in nearly all states that have one and allow fantasy sports to be played. Due to this, there are only a few states where fantasy sports are banned: Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, Vermont, or Washington. We are legal in all other states and Canada. Unfortunately SafeLeagues/Throwback, like all season long fantasy contest operators, isn’t legal outside of US/Canada.

6. Progressive Pots (Dynasty Leagues that started in 2018-2020)

  • Redraft leagues do not have a progressive pot

Article VI: Rosters

1. Starting Lineup Requirements (9 starters)

  • 1 Quarterback
  • 2 Running Backs
  • 2 Wide Receivers
  • 1 Tight End
  • 1 Superflex (QB/RB/WR/TE)
  • 2 Flex Player (RB/WR/TE)

2. Bench spots

  • Each team has 9 Bench Spots

3. Non-Superflex Leagues

  • In non-superflex leagues, the superflex (qb,rb,wr,te) spot in the starting lineup becomes a regular flex spot (rb,wr,te)

4. Undroppable players

  • As an anti-collusion and anti-tanking measure, there may be players deemed “undroppable.” Start-worthy players and players ranked high enough they should be rostered in dynasty leagues are generally considered undroppable given the depth of rosters allowed. SafeLeagues/Throwback will determine if a player is undroppable and correct if done. SafeLeagues/Throwback will also decide whether a player was dropped in an attempt at collusion or tanking.

5. Roster rules during the offseason

  • You are NOT required to have all starting lineup requirements filled in the offseason or during the draft/auction (start-up or rookie). However, your starting lineup must be filled by the start of Week 1 and you must have a valid lineup.

6. Weekly Starting Lineup

  • You must submit a valid starting lineup weekly.
  • If an team manager does not submit a lineup by Thursday morning of each week, the system will automatically submit a lineup using the Fantasy Sharks Lineup Coach. team managers may adjust lineups up until kickoff of each players game. Team managers that swap out players for injured or obviously inferior players may be removed from the league. Team managers are required to submit their own lineups. If an team manager fails to submit their own lineup, they may be removed from the league and the lineup may be corrected using Fantasy Sharks projections.
  • Team managers are responsible for making sure they have a set lineup. They should check to make sure their lineup is set and there were no errors. Team managers should not depend on the Fantasy Sharks lineup setter. Team managers are responsible for and must personally submitting a lineup each week. Failure to do so will be seen as league inactivity and potentially lead to a team being deemed abandoned.
  • Starting lineups are not allowed to have players on BYE or players who had been listed as OUT with a reasonable amount of time to for the team manager correct the lineup. If notified of BYE, injured, or obviously inferior players in lineups, SafeLeagues/Throwback may correct using Fantasy Sharks projections. This is usually only done if the starting of such a player appears to be an attempt to intentionally tank or if the team is potentially abandoned. In most cases, SafeLeagues/Throwback will contact the owner. Acts of this may be considered intentional tanking, or inactivity and lead to a team being deemed abandoned. Repeated offenses in multiple leagues may result in being removed from all leagues without refund and banned.
  • Players in your starting lineup will lock at their scheduled kickoff. That means you can add/remove a player from your starting lineup as long as their game hasn’t started.

7. Roster Limit

  • You must stay within your roster limit at all times. It is a hard roster limit. If you offer a trade, it is wise to make the players even by including the player you could drop. If you are drafting and your roster is full; you must either drop a player and pick a new one, trade the pick, let your timer expire, or even drop one of the players you drafted - wait a minute - then re-draft them.

8. Offseason Roster Limit Increase

  • Redraft leagues do not have this.

9. Injured Reserve Rules

  • There are up to 5 Injured Reserve (IR) spots for each franchise. These spots are for players designated as IR in one way or another on the host site.
  • When that designation changes, the player must be removed from IR. The site will lock the team from submitting lineups until they do. If they miss lineups, they will fall under our team abandonment rules.
  • SafeLeagues/Throwback does not control these designations. The league host sets them and they update their site as the NFL updates. You must adhere to the league host's designation and sometimes that means waiting a small amount of time after the NFL team has made the designation.
  • A player may be picked up off waivers and be put on IR. You must have an open spot on your roster to acquire the player prior to putting him on IR.
  • Players with a suspended (S) denotation are not eligible to be placed on IR.
  • If there are illegal players on injured reserve and we are notified the appropriate moves will be made using DLF’s Dynasty ADP, Rankings or Fantasy Pros Rankings. This is usually only done if the starting of such a player appears to be an attempt to intentionally tank or if the team is potentially abandoned. If someone has an illegal roster due to an IR violation, they will not be able to submit a lineup. This will clear up most roster violations so be patient. Contact us if after kickoff Sunday if they have not corrected.

10. Roster Freezes

  • This does not apply to redraft leagues.

Article VII: Trading

1. Trading Basic Rules

  • Trading is permitted.
  • All trades will be automatically processed.
  • They must be done on the league host. We can not process agreements in chats or emails. Nothing is official until done on the site.
  • Trading of FAAB budget is allowed.
  • Lopsided trades are not allowed in the system if there aren’t enough roster spots to process the trade. If you wish to make a 3 players for 1 player trade, the team manager receiving more players must drop the player(s) necessary so the trade will fit within their roster limit.

2. Trade Deadline

  • Trading will be allowed for a team once they have paid for the league for that season and up until the trade deadline.
  • The final trade deadline is the kickoff of week 11. (kickoff of the first Thursday game)

3. Protesting Trades / Reversals

  • If you believe that there is collusion involving a trade or a trade is far too unbalanced, email the commissioner. If possible, provide evidence as to why you think the trade may be collusive.
  • Once we get 3 protests for a trade, we’ll go through our process of looking for collusion. We will also test the trade out with the Dynasty League Football Trade Analyzer or Dynasty Trade Calculator or in a redraft league, a redraft based calculator.
  • If we get 3 protests AND the trade comes up as one side receiving more than 2.5x the value of the other side based on the trade analyzer/calculator, it will be reversed.
  • If we get 3 protests, the teams in question may be locked and barred from buying new teams (in new or existing leagues) until we have finished investigating.
  • In some instances, the commissioner may even reverse a trade if the team is being removed from the league.
  • In all instances, SafeLeagues/Throwback’ ruling is final and cannot be appealed or disputed.
  • If there is a trade where all the higher value picks/assets are on one side, the trade will almost always be reversed if notified and it will be looked into. If there is an instance where the majority of the higher value picks/assets are on one side to a degree it doesn’t make sense, it may be reversed. This includes trades where one side receives something and the other side doesn't, those will also be reversed and looked into.
  • If a league complains about a trade and it feels way too unbalanced but doesn't reach the 2.5X and we can’t justify the reasoning for the trade, we may overturn it for the good of the league regardless if it had 3 protests. This is extremely rare. If this is during a startup, SafeLeagues/Throwback may on rare occasion, determine if the trade feels like it crosses that threshold if they can't find collusion. But that would be extremely rare.
  • If two teams who have a trade reversed engage in a similar trade to still get the deal done, which may or may not attempt to beat the trade calculator threshold, may be seen as an attempt to undermine the decision and the league and will be treated as potential collusion. This will be looked into if protested by an owner and may be reversed.
  • On rare occasion moves (trade/waiver move/pick) may be undone as well when reversing another move. This would be due to a move being made that either includes assets in the move being reversed or made due to the belief the move being reversed would stand.

4. Trade Accidents

  • If a team manager contacts us via email within a reasonable amount of time and says a deal was accepted in error or made an accident in the trade they offered (which often isn't noticed until the trade is accepted and sometimes not until the next morning if a trade is made overnight), we will reverse that trade as well. It may not be done immediately since we aren’t next to our email at all times, but timestamps will be checked.
  • If a trade is made while a pick is on the clock and accepted by a team trading away a pick where there isn't a reasonable amount of time for the team getting the on-the-clock pick to make their selection, a pick may be reverted. Factors like timing of discussion/offers, last login to the site, and others will be looked at. In most cases both parties should know when the timer is set to expire and is expected to be ready to pick upon acceptance of such a trade.
  • During auctions, we must be contacted immediately with an accidental trade, and even then, it may not be able to be undone. We aren’t always next to our email and every minute changes the auction board. Auctions are too fluid. Much like how accidental bids in auction can not be fixed.
  • On rare occasion moves (trade/waiver move/pick) may be undone as well when reversing another move. This would be due to a move being made that either includes assets in the move being reversed or made due to the belief the move being reversed would stand.
  • It is always best to alert the other party and the league along with the commissioner as well as trying to trade back with the other party.

5. Trading Future Picks

  • This is not a feature of redraft leagues.

Article VIII: Waivers / Free Agents

Basics

  • A player may be dropped at any time, regardless of when or how they were acquired.

1. Free Agent Blind Bidding Waivers

  • All leagues utilize a Free Agents Acquisition Budgets (FAAB) Blind-Bidding waivers system.
  • Each team manager begins the year with a $1000 FAAB budget to place blind bids on waived players. This is for in season and off season waivers. It’s all you get for the entire year.
  • To get a player who is on waivers, a minimum bid of $0 must be made. All bid amounts must be made in $1 increments.
  • The team manager with the highest bid will acquire the player, and for the exact dollar amount that was bid. Since this is blind-bidding, other team managers will not be able to see your bid amount (and for what player) until waiver claims are processed.
  • Blind bidding is not conditional. Simply bid the amount you want on a player along with the player you want dropped (if you have an open roster spot you don’t need to drop a player).
  • In the event two or more team managers bid an equal amount on the same player, the following criteria will be used to break the tie:
    • Earliest Submitted Bid
  • A player who is dropped will be available and subject to the following week's waiver run.

2. Offseason Waivers

  • Waivers will run weekly on Wednesday at 1PM EST starting after the annual rookie draft is completed. These will run from early June through the last Wednesday before the NFL season. It is right around the 2nd Wednesday in June. During the offseason there is no first come, first serve waivers. There are only blind bidding waiver runs each week.
  • First Come, First Serve (FCFS) waivers will start following the last waiver run before the season starts.
  • Players entering the NFL supplemental will be treated as free agents when they are added and available by whatever process for acquiring free agents is in place in each league at that point in time.

3. In-Season Acquisitions

  • After the conclusion of Week 1, the first in-season blind-bidding period will run on Wednesday at 1:00 PM EST. It will run weekly on that day and time.
  • After each waiver claim period is processed and complete, all unclaimed players will become available for pick up on a First Come, First Serve (FCFS) basis until their respective game kicks off for that week.. All FCFS transactions are $0 and nothing will be deducted from your FAAB balance.
  • Once a player’s game kicks off, they will be put on waivers until the next waiver run on the following Wednesday at 1:00 PM EST. This schedule/cycle will continue on a weekly basis for the remainder of the fantasy season. The blind bidding process continues during the fantasy playoffs, even for teams that have not made the playoffs.
  • A player who is dropped may be picked up immediately if the drop does not take place between the kickoff of that player’s game and that week’s waiver run. If the player is dropped in that time frame, he will be available for and subject to that next waiver run.

4. Waiver Accidents

  • Accidental add/drops can be fixed if notified quickly and in a reasonable amount of time. With waiver runs, accidents are less likely to be fixed, but may be fixed in some cases if emailed quickly and in a reasonable amount of time and also if we are able. It may also be fixed if the accident is clear and obvious. Sometimes it is like putting toothpaste back in the tube and not possible.
  • On rare occasion moves (trade/waiver move/pick) may be undone as well when reversing another move. This would be due to a move being made that either includes assets in the move being reversed or made due to the belief the move being reversed would stand.

Article IX: Divisions and Schedule

1. Schedule

Schedule will be randomized each year. The regular season begins on Week 1 of the NFL season and will end upon the conclusion of Week 14 unless the NFL has a shortened or lengthened schedule, in which case SafeLeagues/Throwback will go by all-play record or total points for that season.

2. Divisions

There will be two 6 team divisions, randomly decided each year.

3. Standings

Standings order will be set this way

  • Winnings Percentage (win-loss record)
  • Total Points Scored

Tie scores are permitted during regular season play which may cause a tie in a team's record.

Article X: Playoffs

1. Two Top Seeds (Byes)

  • Six teams qualify for the playoffs, as follows: the top two records will get byes (highest winning %) and four wild card teams. In the event of a tie, the spot(s) will be determined by the following tie-breaking criteria:
    • Total Points Scored (most wins the tiebreaker)
    • All-Play Percentage (best wins the tiebreaker)

2. Four Wild Card Teams

  • The four wild card spots will be decided by record (highest winning %). In the event of a tie for wild card spot, the wild card spots will be determined by
    • Total Points Scored (most wins the tiebreaker)
    • All-Play Percentage (best wins the tiebreaker)

3. Bracket Setup

  • The top two seeds (top two best records) receive a bye in the first week of the playoffs, while the #3 seed plays the #6 seed, and the #4 seed plays the #5 seed.

4. Playoff Game Tiebreaker

  • SafeLeagues/Throwback will do its best to monitor for ties, but team managers involved in a tied playoff game must contact their SafeLeagues/Throwback commissioner, so he can apply the tiebreaking criteria to the matchup and determine a winner.
  • In the event of a tie score in a playoff game, the following tie-breaking criteria will be utilized to determine a winner:
    • Highest seed

5. Advancement

  • Once winners have been determined for the opening round of the playoffs, the #1 seed will face the winner of the #4 and #5 seed game, and the #2 seed will face the winner of the #3 and #6 seed game (in the second week of the playoffs).
  • The winners of those matchups will then compete in the championship game held the following week.
  • The losers of the semifinal matchups will compete in the consolation game for the third-place prize (also in the final week of the playoffs).

Article XI: Startup Drafts

1. Startup Slow Snake Draft Rules

  • Timer: 4 hours per pick
  • Overnight Pause: 8 hours (Midnight to 8am EST)
  • Each franchise will be assigned a draft slot randomly for snake drafts once the league is full.
  • The startup draft will always include rookies both before or after the NFL draft.
  • Trades are allowed before and during the startup draft.
  • You must stay within your roster limit at all times. It is a hard limit. If you offer a trade, it’s wise to make the players even by including the player you would drop. If you are drafting and your roster is full; you must either drop a player and pick a new one, trade the pick, let your timer expire, or even drop a player - wait a minute - and redraft that player.
  • You are NOT required to field a full roster or a valid starting lineup. You must, however, have a valid starting lineup for week 1.
  • If a team manager does not make a pick before the timer expires, the system will automatically pick a player for the team manager based on the highest-ranked available player on the owner’s “My Draft List” player ranking or according to fantasy sharks rankings or MFL’s ADP.
    • If the system errors -- like selecting a player that isn't correct for the ranking/ADP (like a random FA or rookie in a startup, or player not representative of ADP/rankings), we may fix the pick allowing the team manager to select a replacement of available players. We may also do this if no player is selected with the pick. We will almost never revert the draft. Replacement must be made within a day. If you allow the timer to expire two times in a row, your next pick will be automatically made the next time you’re on the clock. A team manager must contact the commissioner to be taken off auto. Timeouts will almost never be changed.
  • Timeouts - picks made by the system due to a timer expiring - will almost never be changed.
  • If an team manager contacts us via email within a reasonable amount of time and says a deal was accepted in error or made an accident in the trade they offered (which often isn't noticed until the trade is accepted), we will reverse that trade as well. It may not be done immediately since we aren’t next to our email at all times, but timestamps will be checked. This may result in reverting of the draft. This holds with accidental picks as well. If too many picks or time has gone by, this may not be possible. It is always best to alert the other party and the league along with the commissioner.
  • If a trade is made accepted by a team trading away a pick that is on the clock where there isn't a reasonable amount of time for the team getting the on-the-clock pick to make their selection, a pick may be reverted. Factors like timing of discussion, last login to the site, etc will be looked at. In most cases both parties should know when the timer is set to expire and is expected to be ready to pick upon acceptance of such a trade.
  • There are 3rd party apps (phone and web) to help with things in these leagues. Many people like MFL Platinum. We recommend against them for drafting. They can cause issues. Most people have no troubles. Use them at your own risk. Neither SafeLeagues/Throwback nor MFL can control some of the things they do.
  • Should there be a trade protest or unforeseen system problems, the draft may be delayed at the commissioner’s discretion. The league commissioner will notify everyone if this situation arises.

2. Additional Startup Slow Draft Timer Rules

  • For leagues still drafting as the NFL season nears, the clock will be adjusted to make sure all leagues finish drafting in time for the season. We strongly recommend pre-drafting picks at this point. Here is the schedule of timer decreases starting 5 days before the seasons starts:
    • 4 day before the Season starts - 10AM EST: the timer changes to 3 hours per pick,
    • 3 day before the Season starts - 10AM EST:  the timer changes to 2 hours per pick,
    • 2 day before the Season starts - 10AM EST:  the timer changes to 1 hour per pick,
    • 1 day before the Season starts - 10AM EST:  the timer changes to 15 minutes per pick

3. Startup Slow Salary Cap (formerly called Auction) Draft Rules

  • Slow auction drafts will use the MFL auction module for the initial player distribution auction.
  • The league will allow a max of 60 players to be up for auction on the board.
  • Each team can only nominate 5 players at a time. Once one of the players you nominated leaves the board, you can nominate a new one.
  • New nominations will not be allowed after 12 full days. The auction will take 14-21 days to complete.
  • You are not required to nominate, you may also nominate as many players as you want as long as you stay within your roster limit and budget limit of $1000 (listed as blind bidding dollars in some places).
  • $0 bids in auction will be allowed.
  • The $1000 budget is all you get for the year for BOTH the Salary Cap Draft and any Free Agent Blind Bidding. If you do not save any money, you can not bid money on free agents during the year and will need to make $0 bids unless you trade for blind bidding dollars.
  • The timer for the slow auction will be set at 16 hours and use a proxy style bidding (ebay style). The timer will reset upon a change in high bidder.
  • Because there is no way to roll back an auction bid to the previous owner, all bids are final. If you make a mistake it cannot be undone. Be VERY careful when making bids!!!
    • If you do set too high of a proxy bid, you can go and change that bid to $1 over the current bid. That will minimize the damage.
  • You are NOT required to field a full roster or a valid starting lineup. You must, however, have a valid starting lineup for week 1.
  • Trading of auction money (blind bidding dollars) will be allowed during the startup.
    • On the extremely rare case you end the auction over your auction/blind bidding dollar limit, the last players you acquired will be dropped from your roster until you are under your limit and those players can be re-auctioned. You will have $0 blind bidding dollars going forward. This onlyhappens if you have players on the board you have not won yet, and make a trade involving allocated cash. It's extremely rare.
  • You must stay within your roster limit at all times. It is a hard limit. If you offer a trade, it’s wise to make the players even by including the player you would drop.
  • All salary cap drafts will be ended in their tracks at 10AM EST, the Wednesday before the season starts. Whoever has high bid will win that player. There will be the normal 1PM EST waiver run followed by first come first serve waivers.
  • Should there be a trade protest or unforeseen system problems, the draft may be delayed at the commissioner’s discretion. The league commissioner will notify everyone if this situation arises.

Article XII: Rookie Drafts

Redraft Leagues do not have this.

Article XIII: Franchise/Team Manager Rules

Each subsequent year after the startup draft, a draft will be held to distribute rookies. This draft will be held in May after the NFL Draft assuming the league is full.

  1. No team manager may have a stake in more than one franchise in the same league.
  2. If a team manager abandons their franchise (either by declaring that they have given up their team, failing to pay by the payment deadline for the upcoming season, non-responsiveness, or not actively managing their team) -- that team manager gives up their claim to any and all prize winnings, forfeits any deposits, and forfeits any future entry fees they have paid.
  3. If a team manager abandons a team after the draft has started or after making transactions they will not be eligible for a refund and may not be allowed to buy new teams (in new or existing leagues). Only in rare circumstances will a refund be allowed.
  4. If a franchise is deemed to have been abandoned, the that franchise reverts to SafeLeagues/Throwback. SafeLeagues/Throwback may sell abandoned League franchises at cost, below cost, or to the highest bidder through the SafeLeagues/Throwback website.
  5. If an team manager dies the team will be deemed abandoned, but SafeLeagues/Throwback may work with the friend or family member that informed SafeLeagues/Throwback to find someone to finish out the season or takeover the team.
  6. If an team manager abandons a franchise, that team manager may not re-join the same league as an team manager or co-team manager of a different franchise.
  7. If an team manager is caught cheating by collusion, tanking, or any other means; SafeLeagues/Throwback reserves the right to remove that team manager from the league. SafeLeagues/Throwback also reserves the right to remove that owner, without refund, from all of their teams and ban them from SafeLeagues/Throwback. A cheating owner forfeits claim to any and all prize winnings.
  8. Co-team managers are not allowed for the purposes of paying the annual entry fee or receiving prize money. I.e. one team manager must pay the entire entry fee, and only one team manager will receive winnings due to the franchise. Co-team managers are allowed on the Game Play site.
  9. team managers may not give/sell their team to another person. All team managers must legally go through geolocation and identity verification, so giving/selling of a team from one team manager to a new person without approval from SafeLeagues/Throwback is strictly prohibited and the team will be taken away and revert back to SafeLeagues/Throwback and the team manager or team managers may be banned from SafeLeagues/Throwback without refund.
  10. If an owner is removed, they forfeit any prizes the team had won up to that point and are not eligible for prizes that team would have won.
  11. Users are not allowed to operate on the same IP address. Additionally, if you are in a league with a co-worker, friend, relative, or person in the same household where this may be happening... this must be disclosed to SafeLeagues/Throwback and an exception may be made. Failure to do so can result in removal from the league or all leagues. This is especially important for users in the same leagues.
  12. All of a user's teams may be locked while we investigate a potential rules violation and their ability to join new leagues be blocked. They may be removed and refunded from a league that has yet to start as well.

Article XIV: Experience Level

A team manager's experience level will be noted with one of these two markers. If a team manager does not meet these qualifications they will not have a marker next to their team. Each league/year you enter is a separate contest. If you play in a dynasty league, each year is a new contest.

Experienced

  • More than 500 contests entered OR
  • Has winnings totaling $2500 cumulative across 5+ contests

Highly Experienced

  • More than 1000 contests entered OR
  • Has won at least $1000 in each of 3 different contests

Article XV: NFL Season Game/Schedule Issue Rules

  1. If a game is cancelled or postponed, that game will not accrue stats in the original week it was scheduled. The only exception to this is if it is postponed within the same NFL week and MFL has the scoring count for that week. Team managers must keep aware of these potential situations. Starting a player in a game with the potential to be cancelled will be treated like starting a questionable (injury) player. The manager understands the risk and SafeLeagues/Throwback isn't capable of allowing potential replacements for such an event.
  2. If there is no NFL season, the payments for teams in existing leagues would be pushed to the following year. For example, a 2020 payment would become a 2021 payment if the 2020 season is cancelled.
  3. In the event of a shortened season SafeLeagues/Throwback, depending on the length of the shortened season, will design a regular season and playoffs that fit or it will become a total points league for the shortened season.
  4. If the NFL season is cut short (cancelled) after a head to head schedule with playoffs is designed for the SafeLeague (the season starts normally and is cancelled before there is a fantasy playoffs or during the playoffs and the playoffs are unable to be played out fully), Winning Percentage (W-L record) at the time the season is cut short will be used to decide the places of the teams with Total Points as the tiebreaker. Total points leagues will be determined by total points of all completed weeks at time of cancellation.
  5. If the season is interrupted, they start and stop and restart... SafeLeagues/Throwback will finish out the fantasy season along with the NFL. They will work within the settings of MyFantasyLeague to figure out the best course for schedule, and/or playoffs. It is possible there will not be enough games for playoffs.
  6. If there is no season, SafeLeagues/Throwback will figure out the best way to design rookie draft order after that cancellation of season is decided.
  7. If the season ends early, trading will be turned off for those unpaid for the future year. Trading will be reinstated once that year is paid for.
  8. If the NFL season completes 6 weeks, that will be considered a valid season.
Season Ends After Winners Determined Rookie Order Determined
Week 1-5 season cancelled potential points from all completed regular season weeks
Week 6-14 1st, 2nd, 3rd in win-loss record; total points tiebreaker potential points from all completed regular season weeks with 1st, 2nd, 3rd picking 12th, 11th, 10th respectively

Article XVI: Abandoned Teams / Refunds

A team may be deemed abandoned for several reasons including but not limited to failure actively manage the team (set lineups, make moves required at certain deadlines, etc) or a non-responsive team manager who has not responded to our attempts to contact. A team may be deemed abandoned even if they respond to our attempts to contact, but still do not begin actively managing their team. If a team has abandoned their team in season, they may be removed from all leagues and banned from Throwback/SafeLeagues/Throwback.
  1. Any contest that does not fill may be cancelled at any time and all teams will be refunded.
  2. Only under rare circumstances at the discretion of SafeLeagues/Throwback will there be refunds for leagues.
  3. There will be no refunds for an abandoned team. If you abandon a team any and all deposits and entry fees are forfeited.
  4. A team manager may leave a league and get a refund before a startup draft begins. After the draft begins, the team can not be refunded.
  5. Once you pay for a contest/league there are no refunds after you have made any moves (draft picks, waivers, trades, trade offers, add/drops, etc).
  6. When a team has been deemed abandoned, either because of a suspected cheating owner, being a non-responsive owner, and/or no longer actively managing their team, SafeLeagues/Throwback will look for an team manager to take over that team for the remainder of the season. This may also be due to a team being inactive due to not paying for their future season after trading future picks.
  7. Anyone who abandons a team leaving it without a pick in each round (one of each of a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round pick) may not be allowed to purchase new teams (in new or existing leagues). This shows an intent to ruin a team's future and shows they are not committed to the future of the teams they purchase. Especially if missing the 1st or 2nd round pick.
  8. If you disappear during your draft and/or are on auto for multiple rounds or don't show up for your draft and timeout in the first round you may be replaced without refund. If you do not show up for an auction for the first day or two you may be replaced without refund.
  9. If you abandon a team during the season (including refusal to pay for the future year due to a future pick trade) you will not be able to buy new SafeLeagues/Throwback teams or orphans the following year or possibly forever.
  10. If you do not respond to contact from the commissioner after disapearing in a league, you may be replaced withou refund.
  11. If a team has been deemed abandoned as a result of not making their entry fee payment prior to the League Renewal Deadline, SafeLeagues/Throwback will attempt to sell the franchise on the SafeLeagues/Throwback website and/or via email, social media, or other means.
  12. SafeLeagues/Throwback maintains the right to remove any team manager from a team, with refund, for any reason. SafeLeagues/Throwback also reserves the right to refuse their services to any person for any reason. Meaning a yearly ban or lifetime ban.
  13. SafeLeagues/Throwback maintains the right to bar any team manager from acquiring new teams (in new or existing leagues) for any reason. SafeLeagues/Throwback also reserves the right to refuse their services to any person for any reason. Meaning a yearly ban or lifetime ban. This includes allowing people to continue in their current leagues and disallowing future team purchases for any reason.
  14. When a team is abanonded or orphaned, recent transactions (add/drops, picks, trades, etc) may be reverted. This is done as they may have been made in bad faith, a collusionary protection, and also so the new owner has the right to make these decisions on the team.

Article XVII: Orphan Policy

Orphaning teams in dynasty leagues is a very costly problem. As such, we have rules to stop orphan churning and keep our leagues strong to protect users and leagues.

  1. If you have orphaned 3 or more teams in SafeLeagues/Throwback that you owned in previous years, you may not be allowed to purchase orphans or new startup teams.
  2. You must also be paid up in your SafeLeagues/Throwback leagues before purchasing new teams (in new or existing leagues) to a point you can not orphan 3 teams.
  3. If you are still unpaid after trading a future pick in a league, you may not be allowed to buy orphans or new startup teams.
  4. If you abandon a team without picks in each round for the next draft, you may not be allowed to buy new teams (in new or existing leagues). Especially if the team is missing higher picks.
  5. If the orphans you leave cost SafeLeagues/Throwback a lot of money due to needing to be discounted heavily, you may not be allowed to purchase new orphans. This may apply even if you have orphaned one or two teams.
  6. If you abandon 3 or more teams, you may be barred indefinitely from buying new teams (in new or existing leagues) and potentially removed from leagues (with refund of future payments) and no longer allowed to be a SafeLeagues/Throwback customer at the discretion of SafeLeagues/Throwback.
  7. If you join new startup leagues and drop them after one year, you may be barred indefinitely from buying teams and potentially removed from leagues (with refund of future payments) and no longer allowed to be a SafeLeagues/Throwback customer at the discretion of SafeLeagues/Throwback.
  8. Once on the ineligible list from buying orphans or new startup teams due to orphaning too many, you will remain on the list and barred from buying new teams (in new or existing leagues). Even if you renew all your teams, you may remain ineligble from buying teams at the discretion of SafeLeagues/Throwback. People are taken off that list on a case by case basis. The commissioner must be contacted with a request to be removed.

Article XVIII: Illegal Starting Lineups / Throwing Games / Tanking

We are dedicated to ensuring all SafeLeagues/Throwback are competitive throughout the entire season. The act of “throwing games” (i.e. losing on purpose by submitting a lineup containing injured players, inactive players, free agents, players on bye, or obviously under-performing players) is strictly prohibited. Although the draft order will not be affected by such a move, it creates a win-loss imbalance in the league.

  1. SafeLeagues/Throwback reserves the right to take whatever action is deemed necessary, including inaction or retroactively setting a lineup, to rectify a situation related to throwing games. If you believe a team in your league is deliberately throwing games, you must notify your SafeLeagues/Throwback commissioner via email to address the issue. It is solely up to SafeLeagues/Throwback to determine whether a team is deliberately throwing games, and to determine the appropriate course of action. In a situation where such a determination has not been made until after games have already started for that week (or previous weeks, in the event the tanking team manager is not identified until after they have submitted intentionally bad lineups for several weeks), SafeLeagues/Throwback may retroactively set the tanking owner’s lineup for the previous week. SafeLeagues/Throwback will be unable to set the lineup for a week earlier in the season. Players on that team may have changed and may not be available for retroactively setting that lineup. SafeLeagues/Throwback may also reverse any recent trades made by a team being removed from the league.
  2. Dropping starting caliber players can be considered tanking as it can sometimes create an win-loss imbalance. This also falls under our "Undroppable Players" rules. The team dropping the player will be more likely to lose their matchup and a team potentially acquiring a starter has a better chance in theirs. This is seen as intentionally tanking for a higher draft pick as well. SafeLeagues/Throwback reserves the right to immediate remove any team manager deemed to be deliberately throwing games from the league without refund. Teams that are abandoned in this way -> See the section entitled “Abandoned Teams” for further details.
  3. Dropping starting caliber or most/all players to hurt the integrity of the league can also result in removal from the league or all leagues without refund. Making trades in an attempt to hurt the integrity of the league of good assets for poor assets to ruin the team / help other teams is also forbidden. This action can also result in removal from the league or all leagues without refund.
  4. Bye week players cannot be in starting lineups. If you have no replacements available on your roster, you must pickup a replacement. Refusal to pickup bye week replacements may be considered tanking and may be cause for removal from the league. Rosters may be adjusted by the commissioner at anytime using pregame Fantasy Sharks projections rankings. This means the commissioner will make and necessary add/drops and starting lineup adjustments necessary. Players will be added and started based on Fantasy Sharks projections.
  5. In some instances a team may need to at least start a non-starting caliber player. That may mean you need to pick up a NFL team's backup QB to start if all starting QBs are rostered.
  6. All of a user's teams may be locked while we investigate a potential rules violation and their ability to join new leagues be blocked. They may be removed and refunded from a league that has yet to start as well.

Collusion

  1. Player renting is always collusion in any league. It is two teams working together at the detriment of one other team and/or the league. Player renting can be trading a player or players for picks or players and then trading back within the same season. Even if one team acquires slightly more benefit. An example. Team A trades Gurley for a 1st and 4th to team B. A week or two later Team B trades Gurley back for that 1st. Team A keeps the 4th. Even with benefit, player rentals are always collusion in any league. Trading players not on bye for players on bye and then trading back also falls under this. Trading players to one team making a playoff run and then trading those players back after the season also falls under this. Player rentals are always collusion in any league and can not be allowed even once.
  2. Offering anything: money, food, goods, or services, draft picks that aren't accessible yet, or benefits of any kind outside of the actual league in exchange for assets within the league constitutes collusion as well. Such trades will be reversed and owners may be removed from the league without refund. Only trading available picks, players, blind bidding money is allowed.
  3. Intentionally and knowingly trading better assets in a trade they know is bad to load up another team can be considered collusion.
  4. Behavior of dropping and adding players between two teams may be considered collusion.
  5. Behavior of routinely having most or all trades with one other franchise and generally favored towards one team.
  6. Any working together between two teams in move(s) to help another team win their matchup or the league may be considered collusion.
  7. All of a user's teams may be locked while we investigate a potential rules violation and their ability to join new leagues be blocked. They may be removed and refunded from a league that has yet to start as well.

Article XVIX: Code of Conduct / Terms of Service

  1. Conduct that is deemed detrimental to the league or to SafeLeagues/Throwback will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, posts and or emails that are harassing in nature and serve no legitimate purpose other than to cause discord within the league or the SafeLeagues/Throwback organization. There is a difference between expressing viewpoints or likes/dislikes of a league or format or normal trash talk about occurrences in a league (trades, matchups, etc) and personal attacks, name-calling, or threats toward fellow team managers or the commissioner. Personal attacks, name-calling, or threats toward fellow team managers or the commissioner will not be tolerated. Vulgarity in emails, on the message board, trade comments, or in other ways (text, images, videos, etc) will not be tolerated. Failure to comply may result in immediate expulsion from that league or all leagues without refund. In addition; offensive wording and images in emails, on the message board, trade comments, text, images, team names, team logos, videos, and other various ways) that is disparaging, antogonizing, or offensive towards gender, race, orientation, disabilities, etc will not be tolerated. Instances of this could result in a warning and having the offending text/images taken down, ability to customize your team locked, or even result in immediate expulsion without refund. In most cases, the commissioner must be notified of these incidents and will deal with them case by case.
  3. In addition, attempts to negatively impact the integrity of the league (i.e. threatening or outright refusal to submit lineups, partaking in bogus trades, disruption of a live draft, etc.) will result in an immediate expulsion, without refund, from SafeLeagues/Throwback.
  4. 5. SafeLeagues/Throwback maintains the right to remove any team manager from a team, with refund, for any reason. SafeLeagues/Throwback also reserves the right to refuse their services to any person for any reason. Meaning a yearly ban or lifetime ban.
  6. If you fail to turn in a W9 when required to do to having winnings over $599 net for the prior year, you will not be allowed to retain your teams for the following year and any payments for that year or any future years will not be refunded. Those teams will be deemed abandoned.
  7. If you are unpaid in any leagues, your abilities will be locked in all leagues. A delay in payment may lead to removal from that league or even all leagues.. This is generally due to trading a future pick(s) and being unpaid but may also may include paying via ACH and it not going through (not clearing) or being refunded the league payment via chargeback from your credit card company or somehow getting a refund from leaguesafe. It may also be from a glitch that allowed you to play in the league but the payment did not go through fully on leaguesafe. To clarify, if unpaid in any leagues as described above: In leagues that set lineups your rights will be axed and the lineup setter will be turned off. In best ball leagues you will score 0 points each week until paid.
  8. If you file a chargeback with your credit card company or get a refund through leaguesafe when you shouldn't per our rules, you may be banned from SafeLeagues/Throwback.
  9. You may not advertise for other leagues or other services similar to ours on our message boards, chats, etc. Doing so could result in removal from the league. If this is done, we will first remove message board rights, then contact the team manager.
  10. Tanking is prohibited. A team manager caught tanking could result in removal from the league or all leagues without refund.
  11. Failing to submit a lineup multiple times during the season can also result in removal without refund and the team being deemed abandoned.
  12. SafeLeagues/Throwback contests are subject to all United States laws and to the SafeLeagues/Throwback official League Rules. Article XX: Rule Changes

Each year of each league is considered a new fantasy contest we offer for people to pay and play in. When you pay, you enter that contest. We hold spots in the next season's contest for people who played in last year’s contest until the payment deadline. Once that deadline passes, if someone doesn’t return, we find new people to enter that season's contest. Given these are dynasty leagues, we don’t change most things. We try to avoid things affect scoring, roster size or things that affect how people have constructed a roster, starting lineup, etc. They may happen, but are more rare.

  • Rule changes may happen after the end of the season and prior to the following season/contest.
  • SafeLeagues/Throwback will not have votes to decide any rule change as a change affects all leagues of a particular format.
  • Rules are set by SafeLeagues/Throwback. Payment to play in a SafeLeagues/Throwback league is an agreement to abide by these rules. Payment of a future year is an agreement to play in that season's contest rules with full knowledge there may be rule changes.

Article XXI: Disbanding Leagues

After each season, if a league has 7 paid teams, it will continue. It is treated as the league voting 7 out of 12 to continue. If it does not, SafeLeagues/Throwback may approach the remaining teams in the league may have a discussion or even hold vote on whether or not to continue. If the decision is to close the league, it will close and any future payments and deposits will be refunded. SafeLeagues/Throwback will make the final decision.

Article XXII: Best Interest Clause

Should circumstances, issues, or problems arise for which a remedy is not stated in the rules… SafeLeagues/Throwback reserves the right to take whatever actions they deem necessary.
